Functional Disorders

A functional or psychosomatic disorder is a psychological disorder that generates a physical effect, causing consequences in the body.

Functional movement disorders are relatively common and may include tremor, dystonia, myoclonus, parkinsonism, speech disorders, dysphagia, and gait impairment.

A multidisciplinary treatment coordinated by a neurologist, including psychologists, physiotherapists, and speech therapists often achieves spectacular results.

MEDICAL EVALUATION: Neurological examination to exclude other pathologies for a correct diagnosis and coordination of therapeutic plan.

PSYCHOEDUCATION: Visit and follow-up visits with neuropsychologists to address anxiety and depression.

PHYSIOTHERAPY: Intensive treatment coordinated and supervised by a neurologist with physiotherapists and / or speech therapists.
